Rykodisc To Release The Smooth Sounds Of Josh Rouse; Live DVD With Bonus Full-Length Studio Album - To Hit The Street June 29 [April 7, 2004]

"It's a tuneful diversion, and the songwriting is peerless"
--Associated Press, August 2003

THE SMOOTH SOUNDS OF JOSH ROUSE DVD and CD package is the follow-up to Rouse's critically acclaimed 1972 album. The DVD is a full-length live show taped in Josh's hometown of Nashville, TN on New Years Eve 2003, capturing Rouse and band in the midst of his massive 1972 world tour, and highlights songs from the 1972 album alongside classics from his earlier releases.

"Mellow, tuneful and wonderfully detailed"
--Rolling Stone, October 2003

Included on the DVD is a documentary, “The Many Moods of Josh Rouse” featuring interviews with Josh, his band and peers from other acclaimed musical acts, artists and producers. Also, there is a full album's worth of rare and previously unreleased Josh Rouse music included on a separate CD, hand-selected from his personal cupboard of recordings by Josh himself.

Rouse, who grew up in Nebraska, spent much of his teenage life following his father from state to state on military assignments. He played in everything from high school orchestras to punk bands, wrote his first song at 18 and released his debut CD Dressed Up Like Nebraska in 1998, on the Slow River subsidiary of Rykodisc Records. The album's rootsy folk rock earned Rouse acclaim on the roots and alt country scene. The following year he collaborated with Lambchop's Kurt Wagner on the six-track EP Chester, providing the music for Wagner's typically oblique lyrics. His second album, Home, was equally well-received as was the 2002 release Under Cold Blue Stars. Rouse received further exposure when "Directions," a track from Home, was featured on the soundtrack of Cameron Crowe's film Vanilla Sky. The following year's record titled 1972 , taking its inspiration from the year in which Rouse was born, was a gorgeously performed tribute and continues to garner much critical acclaim. All of this has lead up to the release of THE SMOOTH SOUNDS OF JOSH ROUSE, a visual tribute to songs that have been proven to stir the soul.

THE SMOOTH SOUNDS OF JOSH ROUSE hits the street June 29.

[music |Wilco- "I'm always in love"]

I get sick of Vandy and their shite. Josh is playing Vandy in Nashville and it says closed to public, which means student only gig. Fine but don't advertise it then because it will be just like the Phantom Planet gig 2 years ago when it was "closed to public" and then they made it "open to public" the day of the gig cause the students didn't buy many tickets. Fucking asstards.

Hi ,I'm only just finding my way around livejournal but I thought I'd come and say hello. I've been a Josh Rouse fan since I heard Suburban Sweetheart a few years ago. I'm also into all things alt.country.

Does any one here have mp3s they could give me? I am looking for non-album stuff. Pretty much everything that's not on Dressed Up Like Nebraska, Chester, Home, Bedroom Classics, Under Cold Blue Stars, or 1972. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
